1. Reading motor markings
2207, 2306 and 1404 describe stator size in millimetres: the first two digits are diameter and the last two are height.
2207
A taller stator gives more torque and a fast throttle response. It suits aggressive freestyle and heavier 5-inch builds.
2306
A wider, shorter stator can feel smoother at low and mid RPM and is common for racing and light freestyle.
2. What KV means
KV is approximate unloaded RPM per volt. It is not a power rating: propeller, voltage, current and weight change the real result.
3. Frame, motor and battery compatibility
| Class | Frame / prop | Motors | KV guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tiny Whoop | 65-75 mm, 1.2-1.6 inch | 0802, 1102, 1103 | 18000-25000, 1S |
| Toothpick | 2-3 inch | 1204, 1404, 1505 | 3500-4500, 3S-4S |
| Cinewhoop | 3 inch with ducts | 2004, 2203.5 | 2700-3000, 4S |
| Standard FPV | 5 inch | 2207, 2306 | 2400-2500, 4S or 1750-1950, 6S |
| Long range | 7-8 inch | 2807, 2810, 3110 | 1200-1500, 6S |
4. Motor construction
Shaft and mount
M5 is a threaded shaft with a nut for 5-inch and larger builds. T-mount uses two M2 screws and is common on 1.5-3 inch builds.
Magnets and bearings
N52/N52H describe magnets. Good bearings reduce play, noise and vibration. Bell play is a mechanical problem, not only a PID problem.

5. Mounting and maintenance
- Check screw length. A screw that is too long can touch the copper windings and damage the ESC.
- Use blue threadlocker sparingly. Keep it on the metal part of the screw and away from motor internals.
- Do not overtighten. The frame must not crack and the bell must spin freely.
- Clean after a crash. Open motors attract metal sand; blow them out and check for play before arming.
6. First-flight checklist
- All four motors are the same model or a compatible set.
- KV matches battery voltage and propeller.
- The ESC has current headroom and supports the cell count.
- Screws do not reach the windings.
- Motor direction was checked without props.
- The first power-up used a smoke stopper.
- Short tests show no abnormal heat, noise or vibration.
